This is truly not a weight loss blog. Now don't get me wrong....I need to lose weight and I want to lose weight, but weight loss will not be my focus; but hopefully a natural "consequence" to the healthy adjustments I make in my everyday life. Weight loss can happen in a very unhealthy way - starvation, restricting entire food groups - that leads to a poor state of health although to others the person looks "healthier" because they are thinner. So health will be the focus, rather than a number on a scale. Having said that so adamantly, I am noticing the words "weight" and "loss/lose" have been used several times in only the first two sentences of this blog that isn't about weight loss.
But now that that's out of the way, here is what this blog will be....a conversation about an overweight female chiropractor's journey to a healthier state of being, as she uses the tools that she gained during grad school. Yes, I am an overweight chiropractor! Shocking, I know, because chiropractors are supposed to be the healthy ones. Believe me when I tell you that this has added more than a little stress to my life as a chiropractor.
Weight loss programs are often started on a Monday. Typically, the weekend before said Monday is loaded with several "last meals"....that ice cream sundae you've been wanting?? Better get that in before the diet starts because you'll never be able to have one again!! In planning this blog, I initially wanted to start it at the New Year (the grandfather of all Mondays), but decided against it because THIS IS NOT A WEIGHT LOSS BLOG!! And so it begins today...being more conscious about what I am putting into my mouth, and making the decision to move rather than sit. Now, granted, today is a Monday, but there were no "last meals" this weekend because if I truly want a sundae, I will get one. But in exchange, I'll move a little more and eat a little less.
Until next time...
LOVE it! Honest, refreshing, and VERY well written. Can't wait for the next installment :)
ReplyDeleteI'm taking notes! As an overweight almost chiropractor I am also trying to make better choices but will not mind if I lose some weight along the way!
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha! Next one is coming soon - definitely by Monday.
ReplyDeleteHey Nikki!! Thanks for reading :)
PROUD OF YOU!! Great read so far!
ReplyDeleteWell the important thing is to follow your diet. Avoid candies, oily food, fast food, and most important thing is you should eat your dinner before 8 O Clock at night. If you feeling hungry then consume, more and more juice or water. This will help you lot to decrease your weight.
